Where in the World is Cushing, Oklahoma?
Cushing is located at 35°58′57″N 96°45′51″W / 35.9825°N 96.76417°W / 35.9825; -96.76417 (35.982628, -96.764171). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.6 square miles (19.8 km²), of which, 7.6 square miles (19.8 km²) is land and 0.13% is water.
That is the technical address....more practically it is 45 minutes west of Tulsa, 60 minutes north-east from Oklahoma City and 20 minutes south-east of Stillwater. It has a population of around 9,000. Cushing is a major hub in oil supply connecting the
Gulf Coast suppliers with northern consumers. Cushing is famous as a price settlement point for West Texas Intermediate on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and has been cited as the most significant trading hub for crude oil in North America. As of 2007, Cushing holds 5% to 10% of the total U.S. crude inventory. Signs made of a pipe and valve on the major highways near town proclaim Cushing to be the "Pipeline Crossroads of the World", and the town is surrounded by several tank farms.

Just a little information on Cushing, Oklahoma. Our family met with the CEO and several doctors and thier wives last night for dinner. They were able to get to know us and ask us many questions and we in turn were able to ask them questions, advice and get thier overall impression of Cushing in general along with information about the hospital employment and such. It was a great night! The couple that we got to spend the most time with was Dr & Mrs. Pyles. What a blessing they were! In a short time we found out so much about thier mission field in Cushing, OK. They are members of 1st Baptist Cushing! We were able to share so much of our heart and mission with them....they are actually without a pastor now and were joking with us that if we know anyone to suggest we might have a vested interest in who they bring in in the next year! How exciting! I wonder what new church family the Lord will have for us in the year to come. After this meeting, Dustin and I both felt confirmed that Cushing, OK is definately where God has called us to call "home". We are so excited about the opportunity and the medical family that he has placed in this town and look forward to serving Him in it! Funny story....so I was praying with the boys the past week and have been trying to explain to them about Cushing and going there and meeting people this week...Carson has really grasped onto this. My friend Candace was here with her little girls on Tuesday and Carson told Candace that we were moving to Cushing on Wednesday! :) He has been so excited about the details that would entail...he has told me "Mommy, we need a house in Cushing." "Mommy, how many doors will we have in our new house?".....and so on.....He was so excited and had such a good time that he actually threw a huge fit when we got in the car to come home. He did not want to go back to Tulsa. We actually had to pull over the car to settle him down on the way back.....he wanted to stay and play in Cushing :) One verse that has been coming back to me time and time again this past month...."Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4.....He knows the desires of my heart because as I spend more and more time with him he places them there....our desire to live and serve in a small town to make a difference for Him there! We are so excited to know finally what His plans for our family are. We have already recieved word from the CEO in Cushing this morning that they loved us and think that we would be a perfect fit with them and they are ready to move forward and start negotiations...Praise Him! Sometimes I am truly overwelmed by His goodness....how perfect his timing is....truly, what an awesome God we serve! As much as I have peace and assurance that this is where God is placing us I am also a little sad that we will not be close to the dear family that we would have had so close to Enid, the other town that we were praying about. But we will trust in Him and his plan for our family.....thank you for praying for us during this time! Bless you dear friends and family for lifting us up on prayer. What a blessing you are! Praising Him! -The Cupp Crew
